The Globe & Mail held a town hall with staff today. The paper is offering a voluntary severance program, giving staff three weeks to decide if they wish to take it. Management didn't give a headcount for how many they're aiming for, but cuts will likely come across all depts.
From multiple sources who were at the town hall: the Globe aims to cut about $10 million from its operating budget, so the number of staffers who go will be significant — 40 jobs went after the last major round of buyouts were offered in 2016.

This is too bad. I subscribed for years, but discontinued following their ridiculous 2015 election campaign editorial endorsement of "the CPC but not Harper". I felt bad for the journalists stuck with that inept leadership but couldn't in good conscience support them financially.
I was dismayed at how easily the Globe was played by JWR in her vendetta and the non-story SNC Lavalin saga.
At least they have the choice of voluntary severance rather than suffer the indignity of being frog-marched out of an office.
