Reading Genesis 3, the "fall" didn't pass sin on to man. It changed the world to bring entropy into the world. We can see this in man's curse, that no matter how much we till the ground, it brings forth thorns.
Paul tells us the same thing. Faith, and belief are obedience. Look at the verses after John 3:16. Who seeks out the light? Those *doing* what's right in God's eyes. As Paul says in 1 Co 7:19, circumcision doesn't warrant grace or the atonement. Obedience to God's commandments

As long as you believe you're defective you'll never have the freedom of Christ. That's how powerful our belief is, if we believe the vain philosophy of original sin, we cannot be saved from our sins. The atonement only takes affect when we stop sinning.
