We are not saved by proof texts. Open your Bible, study it, make sure you have worked out your salvation with godly fear, godly sorrow and trembling of whom Jesus is.

So that brings a good point. Some recieved the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands. So both are correct? Difference in context?

That's honestly a good question. The early church writings also show baptism as being required, and I've come to agree. They fasted for one to two days before hand to cast out demons.

Well the early church (Jews) applied ceremonial deeds to Christianity because of tradition. This I believe was one of Paul's biggest missions, to teach the Jews Grace was not ceremonial. God's saving Grace is not a condition of baptism, just the opposite. IMHO

He didn't teach a different gospel. Read acts 26:20. His mission was to show circumcision wasn't necessary, and the modern church has twisted that in to all works. 1 Co 7:19, 1 Thess 4:1-8.
