But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works."
Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
James 2:18
Empty faith is no faith at all.

Amen. Pistis means an active loving obedience to God. Faithful would be a better translation.

The majority of the time that word is translated as faith. 223 times. In the KJV it is translated as fidelity one time. So I am challenging tour assertion that faithfulness is a better translation here.

Why was Abraham's faith accounted as righteousness? Heb 11:8 - he obeyed from the heart. Gen 22:18 - he obeyed the Lord's voice for this unseen promise. Gal 5:7 - love working by faith fulfils the law

“ he believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness.” He believed. His works were far from perfect and inconsistent. So how many works, and how perfect do they have to be, for me to be saved then?

How many works? Acts 26:20. 1) repent and clean yourself up of sin 2) obey God 3) produce deeds worthy of repentance Three works. Those fulfill the law.

Yes and his voice tells me to believe in his son and love my brothers and sisters. To cease from sin entirely is not possible in this life, and John says that to say we have no sin means the truth is not in us.

John was warning antinomians that God can see their ongoing sin, the same thing Paul warns us in gal 2:17-18.

So you have cleansed your self from all sin? You obey God all the time now? All your works are fully on keeping with repentance? The work of God is to believe in the one he has has sent.

This is speaking on circumcision, not obedient faith.
