Peter Dinklage has some thoughts about that #GameOfThrones ending and the backlash from it. "They wanted more, so they backlashed about that. They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together. But the show subverts what you think." https://buff.ly/3JeICm1 pic.twitter.com/vU96gQjgqF

Close, I wanted the pretty White Walker to ride off into the sunset.

Wrong. They wanted the entire 6 seasons of setup to actually pay off.

why did he have to make it about race? they fucked up the ending pure and simple. jon should have been on the throne and jaime should have killed cersei. they foreshadowed that the whole show and it didnt happen. thats why this show will be remembered as a joke

I loved the end. Endings shouldn't always be what people expect or what would make all the characters happy. The series was surreal and wild, so why can't the ending be more like reality?

Yeah... that's not the reason why people hated s8 😆 It had something to do with the Trash writing and butchering of the characters 😅

He’s right, the series was always about subverting expectations and the ending played true to that storytelling mentality. The writing and execution could’ve been much better though.

No, the story was driven by subverting your standard genre expectations, but, crucially, *in a way that made total sense in retrospect*. The signs were there, the characters behaved in accordance with their natures, you should have seen it coming but you didn’t.
