    New York City has lost a pillar and a patriot. With quiet dignity but lion-hearted love for his city, Mayor David Dinkins led us through one of the most challenging chapters in our history. My thoughts and prayers are with the Dinkins family and their loved ones. Rest in power.

    Disappointed but not surprised that — fresh off backing Trump — doesn't see that restoring trust requires a willingness to change. doesn't get it. Many officers do. We can honor the service of our police officers by ensuring their service is worthy of honor.

    Over the last two decades, the Police Commissioner has overturned the CCRB's recommendations in 70% of serious cases. A structure that allows this will never restore trust between communities and police. CCRB findings should be final. Here's my plan:

    I can only give receipts for the times times came out with me to give out masks, remember 9/11, helped me get much needed kosher food to folks, came to speak at rallies for edu funding, and joined me in my district to talk about the needs of our small businesses.
