On the whole, struggling practitioners focus too much on trying to convice other people to care about the details of their practice, and not enough on how they can help. No one even has to know you apply UCD, info architecture, content strategy, etc. Just help people.

I’ve heard 1,001 reasons why this doesn’t work, and why it’s super-duper important to get people to care that your practice is a “real” thing. I’ve never cared. I feel like I’ve been pretty damned successful? Outlier? Maybe! I doubt it. I’ve followed footsteps of others.
