I agree. That said, it’s like pulp writers getting rebuffed by literati awards which everyone consider the mark of books for the ages. You want superhero and genre type movies to win the awards to show they’re more than just moneymakers, they’re valid cinema for the ages.

No matter what happens, they get made as long as they pull an audience. But these indie films clearly does need the recognition. They're not making enough money, now what happens they start not winning awards too? Eventually studios will start focus on Franchise films only.

I must disagree. Yes, the Oscars are helpful in elevating smaller films that deserve attention. But they're also about rewarding the best movies, no matter how big or small they are. If a blockbuster is one of the best films of the year, it should be in the Oscar conversation.
