Sometimes I walk out here for really no reason at all. The Texas Capitol is just beautiful and belongs to poor children in east El Paso County as much as it belongs to a hedge fund manager who lives in Highland Park. God bless us all.
The chairs in the Texas Legislature are just lazy now. Testimony on contentious legislation used to often go until sunrise, and now it's arbitrarily cut off at midnight.
If you're gonna inflict misery, you should have to be miserable

After 28 years in Congress Sheila Jackson Lee announced she is running for mayor of Houston. Her announcement came at City Cathedral Church. Here’s her announcement:
An hour in to former President Donald Trump's speech in Waco, seeing lots of people headed toward the exits.
On site security officials tell me about 18,500 supporters are here, so my guesstimate of 'lots' is probably in low hundreds, for what it's worth. #WacoRally

BREAKING: Authorities in Texas say that two migrants were found dead and at least 10 were hospitalized after authorities received a call that they were “suffocating” in a train car traveling near the U.S.-Mexico border.
"Keep an ear out on Friday for a new episode of the Texas Take with Scott Braddock and me as we review the big political headlines of the week. Hint: Earl Campbell, Lonesome Dove and Friday Night Lights are sure to show up" -
Appealing a ruling of the Chair in the Texas Senate is pretty rare.
If memory serves: The last time there was an appeal of a ruling of the Lt. Gov, it was when then-Lt. Gov. Dewhurst ruled Wendy Davis needed to abandon her abortion filibuster a decade ago in 2013 #TxLege
Appealing the ruling of the chair is a direct challenge to the power of the Texas Senate's presiding officer. Doubtful even many Democrats would vote to overrule @DanPatrick's decision #TxLege twitter.com/scottbraddock/…

have made a big show of opposing a resolution celebrating Ramadan at the Texas Capitol. But for the record, *neither* of them objected to the adoption of the resolution. In fact, no one did.
