Have you ever worked with neuropsychologists? The neuroscience evidence on FND is quite clear.
-
We have an entire neuropsychology section within my epilepsy program, as a matter of fact. None of whom have any different conceptualization of this condition than I do.

I actually suffer from FND. I can assure you that for me my symptoms are very real. The last thing a patient needs is someone who makes them feel like a phoney.
-
Oh I know the symptoms are real. There's nothing phony about them. The issue is what their source is.

If it isn't neurological, I've been lied to by St George's Hospital, London for over a year. I was distinctly told by a Professor that I didn't need psychotherapy. Maybe he was just humouring me.
-
I wouldn't know about your particular case. Also, I get the distinct impression that there is a very different culture about this in the UK than there is in the US.

What is the difference between a neurologic and psychiatric problem from a physiologic basis? Other than “it is complicated,” why are there two branches of medicine dedicated to treatment of the same organ?
-
My unsolicited opinion is that there is a neurologic answer to “psychologic” conditions, and if I’m wrong, we doctors don’t have business treating it
