If every incel somehow got a girlfriend, the net violence in the world would only go up. Because guys who think like this are violent to their girlfriends. It's not their singleness that's dangerous; it's the way they think about women.

I'm doubtful. I'd imagine majority of them just cherrypick the things about that culture that make them feel better at this moment in their lives. That thin veneer will just melt away if they get their life in order. Optimistist is my middle name.

Ask a woman. You have optimism. We have experience.

That is fair. But it doesn't shake my optimism.

So you don't really care about the danger to women (and other men) these guys pose, you're just going to stick with the rose-colored glasses?

I don't think vast majority of them pose a danger. That is the admittedly limited view I have of the incel culture. Not really a thing worth more than a cursory look to me, IRL. And I stay away from fringe groups of any kind online. Not worth the headache.

They probably don't pose a danger to you, and you don't seem to care if they pose a danger to women, despite their obvious contempt for consent and delight in violence toward women. Enjoy your optimism.

According to
#wikipedia incels are actually targeting "Chads" as well. "Chads" defined as men who actually contribute to society, treat women with respect, and have sexual relations with women - which incels detest (cuz they cannot!).1 reply 0 retweets 7 likes -

Right, that's why I said earlier they pose a danger to other men as well. I think it's fair to assume that they're probably more directed toward hating and harming women, but they're also angry at men.

By the way, these men have always existed; this isn't new. It's just that now they have Internet spaces in which to congregate and bond with other similar men, and develop their sense of grievance and a "culture".

It is always only a small percentage of a group that will commit the most extreme violence, but it is everyone in the group that encourages and normalizes that violence. Meanwhile, most all of us support the system of male supremacy from which the incel emerges.
