Love this! For mid- and late-career people too. I'm particularly chuffed that a female rock climber is shown crushing it in your first feature!
My hobbies definitely help me focus and re-energize. Best ideas come on runs!

Jeez...How about having a hobby because...idk you like doing it and would like to keep it separate from your research-oriented work life? Not everything has to be about work.

Usually hobbies are beneficial not for the skill-set they provide, but because they keep the researcher healthy and capable of pursuing research without burning out. They serve the individual not the career, without the former the latter cannot exist.

My definition of "work/life balance" is a bit of work in your life and bit of life in your work...Rock climbing is helping to focus, be flexible, adapt to changing conditions, find new solutions...It is about a lot more, that's why I love it!
