He's not having the impact he thinks he is. He was a fantastic influence on me as a kid, but he's not as effective an advocate as he'd have us believe.

Right. Bill Nye can only speak for himself, but what he is saying resonates with a sizable portion of the population - both inside and outside the scientific community. More should follow his example.

Totally agree. Nye is a joke. Now, if SciAm had been diligent about sticking to science, maybe I wouldn't have canceled my 20+ yr subscription. 'Speaking for science' means eschewing popular propaganda. SciAm routinely fails this minimum threshold.
