if not rush hour, time is usually the same or less within ~5 miles, especially if you factor in having to look for parking. If over 5 miles and under 9, it’s within 5-10 min, or can be the same again w/parking. At rush hour, it’s nearly always faster within 5-6 miles.

That's in Beverly Hills :-)

Fair. It’s a sad state when Beverly Hills is the progressive city and LA the opposite with bike infrastructure !

Ummm. That’s Beverly Hills.

You’re right. I should have said “LA area” but most people don’t know the strict borders of different municipalities in the broader LA area.

If you can show up to work sweaty, if your job is close enough to ride to, and if you are physically able to ride to work, and IF your bicycle doesn’t end up in an encampment chop shop. Oh yes, that’s why we have rental bicycles now.

After 5-10 min of cooling down sweat is not a huge issue; you can always bring a change in a saddle bag. Close “enough” is relative. E-bikes can help with sweat and also physical shape issue. Store your bike not on the street and it won’t be stolen.
