Regardless of reporting chain, think esp. about high growth ICs as your peers and grow with them. It's unlikely you're not facing similar challenges, frustrated at times, or unsure what to do, and they'll have as much great insight for you as you have for them.

And don't just give growth areas to "work on"—put in the time! Don't hope they guess the answer, put in the time to workshop. I used to impromptu spend hours with people I managed to collaborate on problems. Was most rewarding part of my job—and they'd grow leaps & bounds after.
