Not exactly packed, but great to see Bogyoke Aung San Market in Yangon open for the first time since COVID and the coup

Really shocked to hear of the passing of my old BMC colleague . Memories of the last meeting in Edinburgh are going to be bittersweet now, as it was the last time I saw him and . RIP Triggsy

Its easy to find evidence that Cummings is lying about the Cabinet Office & Michael "can't get the chemical reagents" Gove not being responsible for procurement. The testing companies have long paper trails showing CO didn't want tests till the summer (when Deloitte got the bid)

And then they came for the cyclists. I never knew getting on a bike was a seditious act, but this is where is now...

Priti Patel’s parents & mine were told to leave Uganda & Kenya, in some cases to save their lives. After much protest (at one point they wanted to dump them on the Falklands) UK let them in. To think years later a daughter of that generation would pose for a photo opp like this.

At least Berlusconi had the decency to pay for his own bunga bunga parties. Boris has carried out his bunga bunga partying on the tax payers dime, or paid for by (no strings attached) “donors”...

The good news: Myanmar state newspapers have stopped publishing arrest lists of Doctors. The bad news: they seem to be working their way through Nurses now. Arrests under section 505 of the penal code now automatically lead to 3 years imprisonment.

Hunter gathering in the time of military coups. This is why I had to queue in the 36°C heat for over 2 hours today just to withdraw the daily limit of 140 quid

After 2d of getting the runaround for their 2nd vax in Hyd, my parents finally got it! A part time driver they hired checked several centres, found one with stocks, made his son stand in line while he brought my parents. All to minimize their exposure. His name is Ashraf. (1/n)

The extended curfew makes a huge difference to the Yangon’s large Islamic community, as finally in the last week of people can go out after and do the evening Tarawih prayers. Could hear the azan and see busy mosques as a result – at Mogul Shah Masjid

First night that the curfew in Yangon has been pushed back to 10pm and the beer and BBQ stalls on 19th St have made an immediate comeback. First time for months it’s been possible to go out for dinner and do stuff after dark – at 19th Street

Penal code 505a goes back to the India Act of 1860, brought into effect in the wake of the 1857 mutiny and can lead to up to 2 years imprisonment. Thanks British Empire.
