This is a horrifying story. It makes me ask myself, if I were the teacher, what would I have done? What could I have done?

I saw that. I have thought about it. I don't know why you insist on assuming I didn't and haven't. It could also cost a teacher her job if anyone found out she knew about crimes and didn't report it. This is a dilemma. It's not a clear-cut thing.

Do you believe a teacher should protect herself from possible economic harm vs protect her student from certain death? Now that's a debate we can have.

That being said, I am glad I work with preschoolers and not the kind of students I'd have to worry about having told me these kinds of things. And that's where I am going to leave it.

You don't think preschoolers are exposed to crime and violence? And you're really committed to framing this situation in terms of how ot affects your career, your moral compass, your feelings. It's really a shame. I have a lot of respect for educators, we can do better!
