Yeah it's a really strange way to phrase, "I'm a feminist that recognizes that intersectionality is a thing." But you yourself are not the thing that you recognize, so it doesn't make sense to use it to describe yourself. You're right.
Basically "I swear I'm not one of those white feminists, please believe me, I don't know how else to express that."

Also usually: omg I so WAS exactly that WhiteFeminist, and this desperately want to distinguish myself from folks who make me think about how fucked I was in the recent past. Like that grade school picture with the horrible perm and day-long sweater. (Just me? Nvm)
