Folks should know what their options are, and know that they can go directly to a shelter without police interaction. It's good and important to communicate and ask permission before calling authorities. No need for the copaganda.
It doesn't hurt to help. Yes - most chronically street homeless folks know what their options are. Also, many will accept the offer on such cold nights. Agree - ask if you feel can or feel comfortable. Otherwise you are doing no harm (possibly a world of good) by calling it in.
No hello we just went over this. "Calling it in" exposes people to potential harm and ignores their agency. Nothing wrong with checking in and asking for their consent before "calling it in" ok thanks
