Professional ethics rules will keep lawyers from doing anything but showing up to court as usual. Lawyers must rep. individual’s best interests, not their class’ best interest. Source: Am lawyer with dashed daydreams of revolutioning.

Public defenders did a walkout and took the streets just the other day! I'm no lawyer but perhaps ICE in courts is really really bad for their clients?

Of course it is, and it is in the collective best interest that lawyers walk out of court and grind it to a halt. This is why prof. ethics will not let them. I’m not sure how they worked it in NY, but lawyers will never be a source of long-term agitation.

Public defenders have little to nothing to lose? Just a theory. It was a badass walkout tho.
