The #NY14 debate really ended on a bang when @repjoecrowley brought up the abhorrent treatment of immigrant families at America's southern border, specifically the Trump admin's practice of ripping kids away from their families. Crowley called it "fascist" this week. 18/x

But then @Ocasio2018 chimed in, saying, while banging her hands on the table, "if [ICE] is as fascist as you say it is, then why don't you adopt the stance to eliminate it?" Defunding ICE is a major part of her platform. #NY14 19/x

"It conveys a profound misunderstanding of how to address this problem," @Ocasio2018 added. If any comment wins over support in #NY14, it might be the ones on ICE. The fear of ICE in the district is real — realer than anyone can imagine. 20/x

.@repjoecrowley, citing Sen. Kamala Harris' stance on NOT defunding ICE, responded by inferring voting to defund it would be symbolic in nature, as the agency would more than likely continue to exist, regardless of any vote. Hard to say he's wrong. #NY14 21/x

Who won the #NY14 debate? It's hard to emphatically declare a winner when the debate was so short with little chance to rebut. Both @repjoecrowley and @Ocasio2018 told untruths and they both hit each other's weaknesses — that so much is certain. 24/x

@Ocasio2018's major weakness is she has no experience or real community connections to do this job.
