Ok. Off to a meeting and then home for video games and story time. BOY HOWDY DO I HAVE A STORY FOR Y'ALL ABOUT THE DSA.

STORY TIME Yeah so we submitted our paperwork to become a chapter of DSA back in like December. Didn't hear anything.

So our point man on it checked in with national in February and got told "your stuff was all marked read and archived without anyone actually looking at it. We'll get back to you in a couple weeks."

Cue radio silence until a couple days ago when the south gets a new regional organizer who touches base with the person who started the chapter back before I joined and he sends her to me.

Why did she email him? NONE of the updates we'd sent re updated organizing/steering committee membership in the intervening 10 months were on record anywhere. NONE OF THEM. not one.

So I get a request from national to explain who the hell I am and how I got involved with the steering committee before they'll tell me shit.

And then I find out that while our paperwork was basically lost, national had declared a ban on new chapters in order to develop a new approval process. Which we didn't know about because see above re NONE of our updates being on record. None. Of. Them.

But hey now they've found our paperwork and oh yeah we're not eligible to be a chapter because about half of the signatories let their memberships lapse, at least one of them after finding out about this situation.
