Norvig's solution is beautiful (and manages to be lisp in Python that's still idiomatic Python) http://norvig.com/ngrams/ch14.pdf In Metabase we're using an implementation based of https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8870261/how-to-split-text-without-spaces-into-list-of-words/11642687#11642687 … and it works quite well.
