Political fights over digital privacy will become obsolete when open source HW & SW become better products than those sold by corporations.

@sbelak sure HW is tricky and the previous statement applies mostly to SW. But let’s not forget open source != free. -
@natannikolic exactly. OSHW is still provided by corps. and it's not feasible for the end user to check if it conforms to [open] design. -
@sbelak why not? feasible for an average consumer or anybody? -
@natannikolic you need knowhow (comparable to writing an OS from scratch in SW) and access to a reversing HW lab. -
@sbelak so your argument is that unless I know how the HW and kernels work I'm not entitled to have access to it? What about those who do? -
@natannikolic no, my argument is having nominal access to my HW in itself doesn't suffice as guarantee of my liberties. -
@sbelak of course not. my point is of preferring everyone monitoring everyone, instead of being protected by a twisted big brother :)
