Joining a terrorist group often means surrendering one's values and connections to community, family, and morality. By preying on vulnerable individuals and manipulating their beliefs, extremists strip away their humanity, leaving behind only violence and hate.

📰Egypt sentenced Muslim Brotherhood leaders Mohamed Badie, Mohamed Al Beltagy, Mahmoud Ezzat, Amr Zaki, Osama Yassin, Essam Abdel Majid & Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud to death. Case will be referred to Mufti for his legal opinion. Final verdict on September 20.
📰Key to effective counterterrorism strategy lies in addressing both immediate threat posed by terror groups like Daesh & underlying conditions that breed terrorism. Military operations alone are not enough. We must also tackle the ideology & root causes.

📰Recent arrests in Belgium of Daesh supporters indicate future of militancy in Europe where Daesh & Al Qaeda lack centralized leadership to plan big attacks. But small cells may attempt small-scale attacks, often being disrupted by security services.
Preserving our heritage is crucial to strengthening social cohesion and fostering a sense of connectedness. Extremists aim to sow division and erase our shared history, but by valuing and protecting our cultural legacy, we can unite in creating a better future for all.

📰Despite Abu Mohammed Al Jolani's attempts to distance Hayat Tahrir Al Sham from its Al Qaeda origins, no one is fooled. UN, US and many other countries consider HTS to be a terror group; US has even offered $10m reward on Al Jolani’s head.

A visible way in which extremism affects individuals is through restrictions on freedoms. This can include limitations on dress, behavior & social interaction imposed by extremist groups. This means some people are unable to enjoy basic liberties many others take for granted.

📰Hayat Tahrir Al Sham holds strategic cards in Idlib, like threat of hostilities resuming & sending surge of refugees - including extremists - to Turkey & Europe. It must be assumed it will use these cards when pressured by regional & global powers.
Our study📊shows despite their claims of inclusivity, extremists espouse racist — and consequently un-Islamic ،idea that incorporation and empowerment of non-Arabs who “never absorbed genuine Islam” undermined Islamic state structures and Islam itself. 🔗
Restoration of Mosul Museum, closed for 20 years, is entering its final stages with plans to reopen in 2026. The museum was shut in 2003 due to post-invasion chaos and then ransacked by Daesh in 2014. Its rehabilitation project was launched recently.
Religious extremism impacts education. Extremist groups may limit access to education, particularly for girls and women, or enforce their own version of curriculum that promotes their ideology. This can limit opportunities for individuals and communities.
