Very true. I did some sales training for a vendor a few months back and now one of those sales folks is all up in my LinkedIn and email trying to sell it to me

Hey, I'm not even joking, it really does seem like it's a waste of money. But from what I've seen, most marketing spend seems like a waste to me. I have run into a few vendors that do an amazing job with lead tracking and can tell you exactly where money was well spent vs wasted

The difficult part about marketing, and hopefully then sales, is getting them from "Watched a demo for a shiny thing" to "qualified sales lead" to "lifelong happy customer".

so true! but you can learn from people who watch your demo, and raise awareness about your tool, even if they don't buy it. so not a total waste of resources in my view.

A solid point - if you can't talk your marketing team out of it, or into a better approach, you can still get value out of it.
