    Such “you’re worse!” comparisons achieve nothing, but for accuracy it’s worth recalling Zac Goldsmith’s mayoral election campaign, fully backed by the then-cabinet. The most openly racist bit of national politics I can recall in many years.

    Still in denial. Unlike Labour, no rot at the top. Conservatives don’t have a leader who has indulged the problem.

    Things that would make the figures more helpful. 1. Put some actual earnings figures into them. 2. Make the quartiles smaller. 3. Give details of part time and full time earnings gap. 4. Give details by age - hardest hit are women over 40. 5. Enforcement provision!

    Boris Johnson claimed Porton Down said there was ‘no doubt’ they knew Novichok came from Russia. Today, Porton Down say they don’t know the precise source. It’s not Porton Down’s job to find source but to analyse what the substance is. So Johnson may have lied to the public.
