It’s amazing that so many HTTPS fanboys at the browser vendors seem to be ignoring 1/3 of the security triad. That “A” is for availability folks. Confidentiality and Integrity aren’t worth much if you can’t *get* to large chunks of information.
Not sure I understand (not a security specialist) -- I have too many domains to keep running, on too many different platforms to even begin to contemplate the kind of transition they have in mind -- for little or no benefit.
Sorry was unclear. Confidentiality (can’t snoop), Integrity (can’t change contents), and Availability (can actually get to it) are supposed to be first principles for security folks. Encryption can help with “C” and “I”, but seems “A” (no less important) is getting ignored.
Here's the story -- I wrote it for an http://archive.org guy who was 100 percent behind HTTPS required. Seems in conflict with the mission of his organization as I understand it.http://scripting.com/2017/11/08.html
Ugh, I can see why it would be unwieldy to manage all the certificates, updates, etc for an environment like that. It’s maybe possible - I’d have to think more about wildcard/SAN certs and how to automate, but don’t know why the burden for all that change should shift to you
It's not going to happen. Politically I won't be bullied by a corporate platform vendor trying to take control of an open platform. I started working on the web in 1994 because I had tried to make that work with Apple, and got screwed up the ass over and over.
Yeah. Hopefully some group steps up with a story that doesn’t break 25 years of work on the web
