For those who aren't familiar: the Celtic Cross - which is beautiful, and used to be divorced from sinister intent - is a popular White supremacist symbol. You usually see this one, but as THAT symbol has become more recognizable, lotsa closet Nazis have adopted other versions.pic.twitter.com/NdsRwlckLi
The traditional Greek cross has also experienced White supremacist appropriation in the last decade. Here's a good summary:https://www.adl.org/education/references/hate-symbols/celtic-cross …
I'm now demanding that @Wikipedia increase operational transparency. They have a data integrity problem, and it will continue to rot them from within if action isn't taken to stop it.
Also, I used to donate to @Wikipedia. They don't get another goddamn dime from me until they fix this.
Looking forward to reading about the (White, male) journalist who "bravely exposes" all this and gets a Pulitzer.pic.twitter.com/pxfTDgFnFT
UPDATE: Someone from Wikipedia has responded and offered to DM me about their processes. This is appreciated, but AGAIN - transparency. Y'all, do me a favor. T-Mobile users especially: see if you can edit on Wikipedia. If you CAN, do NOT respond. If you CAN'T, please, reply!
I'm happy to do the work on my side, and share my findings. I HOPE I'm wrong about Wikipedia. I really do. But, I've heard of weird blocks and unexplained bull over there for almost a decade now. It would be irresponsible to ignore or dismiss it.
ADDENDUM: I mentioned that @Wikipedia absolutely locks some important pages from outside edits. Like...this...4Chan...meme.pic.twitter.com/qMI7xH2MC1
