Todays is poppy. On Remembrance Day, we remember those who gave their lives in conflict. Tolkien fought at the Somme which left him traumatised. He saw friends a colleagues die and the experience shaped his writing. He survived. Millions didn’t. And we’ll remember them

today is culture. Tolkien lived opposite Sarehole as a boy & he helped create one of the most popular legacies in popular culture- Middle Earth. He played in our pond, ran through our fields & called the miller “the white ogre”. Find out more on our Tolkien walk

We were closed for the 1st two days but today is all about climate. We have to be very careful at Sarehole about extreme weather as we can very easily flood being a water mill. Not to mention being surrounded by trees which makes windy days fun! Still beautiful though
