      Hey #GoScience community! Let's make a list of therapies that are clearly bunk (considering evidence & scientific plausibility) & spread word. @MaryFernando @subatomicdoc @ConscienHealth @DrJenGunter @DrMJoyner @skepticpedi @EdzardErnst @gorskon @ryarmst @picardonhealthpic.twitter.com/HmPBvNoWQq

sorry you lost me with high dose IV Vitamin Therapy that is starting to have interesting data, particularly in sepsis. Yes it's retrospective, but it's also hopeful, and there are now more than 300 enrolledhttps://journal.chestnet.org/article/S0012-3692(16)62564-3/fulltext …

Perhaps the msg is chronic/long-term high dose vitamin therapy. In addition to your example, there are Vit B shots + a few other scenario specific supplementations

That’s why I’d consider making a disease-centered list. Diseases are what people want to avoid or treat/heal.

That is a therapy given for a specific condition that includes corticosteroids. I should have called it "wellness" IV therapy (or something like that). Was trying to be concise.

High dose vitamin C for cancer and just about everything else is still bunk.

ADME disfavors nicotinamide supplement use yet NAD consumption by tissue (circadian) cellular networks shows performance-boosting value. ADME experience teaches look at liver uptake of molecular assemblies to obtain cell-penetrant nicotinamide. Real de-aging cognitive drive value

Big diff tho: high dose Vit C in Sepsis has a biologically plausible mechanism, & is evidence based. Plus, it was developed by Intensivists, not a Naturopath. High dose vitamins are useless for most things CAM suggest. When things are supported w/ evidence, they become "Medicine"

It's not just vitamin C. It's steroids and thiamine. But it has to be the vitamin C. It ALWAYS has to be the vitamin C. It couldn't POSSIBLY be any of the other compounds. I'll go with the old adage that if it looks too good to be true it probably is and await the RCTs.
