Many of the replies are answering questions I didn’t ask. I think a primary challenger is newsworthy.

On a related note: As I discussed in this piece, I think there’s evidence many longtime Republicans aren’t happy with Trump and/or the GOP, and I think many people seem determined to underestimate or ignore that entirely. https://arcdigital.media/tbd-64b6e64673de …

Last observation: It’s really interesting to watch people who labeled themselves
#NeverTrump in 2016 and who rightly identified reasons Trump was unfit for the presidency now find — really, search for — reasons to not vote for *any* Republican who is open to running against him.Show this thread

Well, he was my governor (and mostly a good one), but it's hard to view this as anything other than a self-indulgent exercise for him. He's been looking around for something to take up his time since he left the state house.

How often does a primary of an incumbent President have an actual chance to win? It’s pretty much as given the GOP will throw their hat behind the incumbent because they have a better chance of winning... even as toxic as Trump is for the party.

I see lots of folks who are like well I can't vote for a Democrat so I guess I have to vote for Trump when they could be supporting a primary challenger.

Perhaps because there is no real Republican Party, just a Trump cult.

You're surprised that a has been who has no traction? Are you surprised when we change the clocks back to standard time too? I'd vote for him but he's a 2 percenter.
