When really, if the abusive partner couldn’t deal with the consequences of their behavior...they shouldn’t have engaged in said behavior ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is 0% the partner’s responsibility to continue to prop up someone so maladjusted

Agree - these folks have a very low opinion of the person they are theoretically defending.https://twitter.com/vo_mike/status/1178330277103296514 …

Apparently, according to these folks? The locus of control they are asserting is...curious.https://twitter.com/c_l_byers/status/1178330679823585280 …

Well at least we have that in common! Let’s list out relevant actions: Stallman: 30 years of belittling & denigrating behavior towards women & the disabled. Repeatedly defending child sexual abuse. Mei: pointing out the above Bring on the consequences!https://twitter.com/osakatadori/status/1178165352850575360 …

i am unsure if people realise that rms lived in his office, and that his search for interim accomodation is likely because he has been asked to stop sleeping there that's still beside the point though, and wow there's some angry dudes who don't understand facism in your mentions
-
On his website he claims he stopped using his office as his residence in 1998; is that not correct? https://stallman.org/rms-lifestyle.html …
-
it's hard to speculate either way but the point I was making here that there have been points in the past where his primary accomodation was dependent on his role in mit, and there may be some case where that would continue to be true
-
here's the thing you're missing "rms should not be in charge of the fsf and has shown himself to be hostile, a bad steward and an embarassment to the moment" isn't really much of a hard point to get and yet here we are asking about the technicalities of his accomodation requests
-
years upon years. projects forking. people leaving the fsf, people resigning from the board. this isn't about the toenail eating. but yeah it might be that his accomodation was provided for by the fsf and his resignation requires moving elsewhere
-
the idea that anyone other than him is responsible for his resignation and subsequent consequences is laughable, tenuous, a huge stretch well, for anyone who has been trying to hold him to account, for _years_ now
-
honestly? that he got dumped out of second hand embarassment over mit's involvement with child trafficking, well, i guess so it goes people tried every single other way, including forking the fsf did you never ask why debian gnu/linux is under a different org?
-
It's clear that rms's defenders at MIT not only protected him from answering for his own bad behaviour, but also provided him with unique privileges. I doubt it's normal to have a "visiting scientist" title for 20 years without producing any new research. How much was FSF vs MIT?

I'm charmed by the implication that facing accountability means becoming homeless and destitute. Like, total impunity for shitty behavior was all that allowed him to sleep indoors?
-
Also, the utter lack of regard for the humanity of the real homeless is something you can read very well in the tone of these tweets.

I don’t understand why a “looking for housing” post turned into “he’s homeless”. RMS has received more than $1m in grants over his lifetime, he will figure out how to get a roof over his head for the night.
-
He clearly has enough defenders who could put him up in their basement ... but really this is just more g*merg*ate tactics

nailed it. the hysterical escalation and overreach is so typical. also DARVO. he may have been a disgusting harasser in a position of power, but he’s really the victim here obbbbvvvioussslyyyyyy

The kings of pedantic hairsplitting are somehow flummoxed at the distinction between homelessness and looking for a new apartment.

I read a book a while back that functioned somewhat as a biography of Stallman. It didn't hold back much. If he's suicidal, it's a historical issue for him and he needs to seek help, and he "friends" and supporters need to step the fuck up.

Huh, so this is what they think of RMS. He has no agency, no control over his life and his impulses, no capability of taking control or responsibility. Essentially a child in an adult’s body. I wonder if he would agree.
