Why do you say that? I agree there are big blobs on android still, but you can build it yourself, as was doing cyanogen... Can you do this on iOS??

I see your point (I think): large chunks are proprietary, and Google controls development. But doesn't the existence of projects like https://lineageos.org/ show real difference between the two?

So far as I know, there’s nothing from the FSF on iOS or Android. The FSF is irrelevant nowadays, has been for awhile.

There are many flavors of Android, beyond Google's own revisions, and without even mentioning OEM versions. How many are there for iOS? Oh yeah.... One. How many times has Tim Cook ever distributed the source code for iOS? Oh yeah... Never.
