It's called Aldi.

Yes, going to Aldi in Germany in the late nineties looked vaguely like that

-
What changed since then? I love Aldi. Primarily for the prices but only having one of each commodity is a big bonus. That said, total selection is also very constrained which is why the next stop is usually Kroger to fill in gaps. Cuban store looks pretty limited as well.
-
I moved away from Germany and am not sure have I visited an Aldi since. At least not as frequently as I did then

I think stores stock “253 kinds” because we buy them. They’d be dumb to stock and display items people didn’t buy . Maybe it shouldn’t be 1 brand, maybe just 5. But who gets to decide? I love my high protein low sugar cashew milk and I don’t want the government taking it away

We have Aldi supermarkets in Australia that only stock one brand of each thing. Some are their own brand, some are suppliers. So much easier.

The US is an extreme capitalist wasteland that needs strong progressive reforms But.. really, do you think this store is better than American supermarkets?
-
You could tell me that's a Trader Joe's and I'd believe you. I mean, I don't see a difference.

This is the same as Venezuela, that I had to leave without my family. And I know it's hard to choose between a lot of brands but it's better than to go to the supermarket and only find a wall full of mayo but no milk. It's not awesome it's sad.

This is why I switched to subscription clothing boxes and why after an upcoming bathroom remodel I need a year off before attempting to pick out tile for the kitchen.

I'm Cuban, moved to Berlin 4 years ago... I still struggle to choose a product because there are so many of the same category, or to understand what a product is or does sometimes. House cleaning stuff I would say is where is the most complicated for me.

I often wonder how much extra cost all of the choices we have in virtually every product category. Not necessarily just end consumer cost, but a variety of others, such as environmental.

I only see that this person chose to show very common goods like canned tomatoes. Metaphysically speaking, it doesn’t matter if there are a variety of tomatoes. What must be there is a variety of GOODS. Various types of beans, etc. I don’t see Socialism, just an agenda and bias.pic.twitter.com/h7qgvNcAoe

Cuba is terrifying to me. I have many friends who escaped Cuba over the course of the last 30 years for poverty or persecution and physical threat from the government over being gay or trans. I’m 100% Warren but I want nothing resembling Cuba.
-
I think you missed Sarah's point, friend.
-
Oh that’s totally possible. Wouldn’t be the first time I missed the point. Hahah.
