Your periodic reminder that Richard “RMS” Stallman, creator of the GPL license and president of the Free Software Foundation, is a misogynist, a pedophile, and thinks of disabled people as pets. Free software folks continue to glorify him. Receipts:https://twitter.com/sarahmei/status/817377232016457728 …

Here are just a few examples of how Richard Stallman has always been a "fucking shitshow." http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Stallman …

Eric “ESR” Raymond is no treat of a person either, but he is no longer in charge of or a spokesperson for the OSI, the way RMS is still in charge of and a spokesperson for the FSF.https://twitter.com/pulkomandy/status/1167817128826822658 …

I know few people still glorifying him. I guess I have somehow avoided the "free software folks", then? (not to mention, having Eric S. Raymond as the head of the opensource side of things isn't any better to me)

Indeed, I guess living in the EU and thus meeting mostly people from the FSFE rather than the FSF makes me perceive things differently

I mean I do consider OSI somewhat chronically entangled with exploitation as well... at least as currently practiced. But I don’t particularly see why we need to adopt FSF or OSI. I would love to see if research into ethical licenses goes anywhere.
