I have an old wordpress blog that I'm tired of maintaining. I pay for hosting at a place where I have filesystem access. I update wp myself. It's all so incredibly 15 years ago. :p What's the easiest way to move it to something hosted?

I want to keep all the old content - I just don't want to maintain wordpress myself anymore. And before you suggest it, I definitely don't want a NEW blogging platform to maintain. :p

Do you just want to make it static, and not add new stuff? If so I have a tool for you:https://github.com/kevinmarks/spiderpig …

I moved to Jekyll but wpengine was a contender for a while

Hosted @Ghost blog would be my choice for that at this point.

I pondered this same thing as I was thinking about refreshing my whole website (which was also WP). I eventually exported all the posts to markdown and imported into a Jekyll site I made (which is on Github and auto-publishes to Netlify)...

It was a bit of work to convert, but finding a site theme online made it easier. There's also always http://wordpress.com  (which I pondered doing as well). Probably an easier conversion but with auto updates

[goes to http://flywheel.com ] [then does a search for the web-based flywheel] Oh yeah, looks like http://getflywheel.com  could host WP sites too, and my friend Jen works there 😁

Had the same problem myself! wrote a little script that turned each post into HTML and then just served the pages on an express server.

If you go with @wpengine they have an automatic site migration plugin and they do update WP automatically for you too.

Are you comfortable having everything auto updated? This can be set up, I believe, regardless of the host you choose. So you could be updated and hands off. I think my host http://netwisp.com  can do the migration and set.up for you :)
