UPDATE: I worked on this code for about 45 minutes tonight, & I now have most of the app I wanted. Test driven, running on CI, & deployed to heroku.
Rails: Once You Install It, It’s Great
My code is 90 % done. Now I just have to do the other 90%

The Rails culture has this unhelpful attitude hard wired. It’s a hang over from C programming. If Rails were a car, it’d rust in no time
I’m going thro this at mo, its not just Rails, its pretty much everything, node, java, php, the lot. It should and could be better, we are all too busy building solutions to remedy though.
I still enjoy working in Rails, but on my Mac, at least, I shudder to think what it would take to get things working again if I had to rebuild my machine. Usu. keep current enough to mostly avoid your pain but I've gone through similar things between Node and Elixir versions.
By the same token, ORL doctor doesn’t need to know about the rest of the body? IMO, You need to know your runtime env, at least to be able to efficiently find answers and unblock yourself.
