What if, gosh, both parents have fulfilling careers and want to combine them with having kids, instead of the woman (let’s face it, it’s always her) having to abandon her life goals because the industry she works in thinks the ultimate hiring perk is free pizza on wednesdays.

We’re not talking about your personal life choices, we’re talking about factual data on women’s careers bearing the brunt of childcare and the lack of support structures for them. Not everyone can afford private daycare regardless of pay gap (single parents come to mind).

And yes - sure, pay people more. While were dreaming, how about UBI so more people could make the choice to work or not from a place of less desperation? I’m not holding my breath for either. Benefits are a much easier sell.
