In 1999? I was online in 1988. AOL came out in 1993. This seems really late for the line of questioning. This was the peak of the dot com bubble. Weird.
Consider that during that time period, the entire rest of the music industry was fighting the internet tooth & nail, because all their revenue came from physical media.
Ur never used Napster obviously.
I still have my first gen iPod, which is half full of stuff I got from Napster. Good times.
Ah, okay. I was thinking more in terms of the internet in changing artistic expression. I wasn’t thinking about the sales/consumption side, which music companies were extremely defensive about. You’re absolutely right.
