Hey Palantir, if you don’t want another company to “steal” (
) your “diverse staff” (
) maybe try hiring more than a single white woman executive. Maybe try hiring people of color too. Maybe try promoting them!
I dunno, just a thought.https://twitter.com/triketora/status/1082407670991196162 …

This was the basis of my whole strange loop talk last year. We never finish the sentence. ”change the world...for the better” is what we assume but unless we *say* it and take specific, intentional actions to achieve it, we end up changing the world for the worse.

Your talk was the highlight of the conference for me. Thank you.

Thank you, that means a ton!!

How does the idea of the non-empty negative side play into this?

Fantastic thread; agree completely. I think one more thing contributes to this unethical behaviour though: values misalignment. The party inside the company is that it is making the world better (how they justify that in 2018/2019 I have no idea).

Disagreement about specific instances is tolerated. Disagreement about the overall mission generally results in people leaving rather than anyone listening (tho my info likely dated) Disclaimer: I worked there once and still have stock (which I’d love to sell, but it’s hard to)

I still haven’t figured out how to get through to relatives who think conservative or police state ideas are making the world better. Far too many in tech are privileged to not see the negative effects of their work and believe its good (loved your thread on negative effects).
