To be clear, I’m NOT saying “don’t expect to be promoted.” I’m saying the last 20 years were fucked. We need to make the next 20 years less fucked.
It is maddeningly rare to find a manager who sees growing and promoting people as a core responsibility
I agree with this. I’ve been reflecting a lot on it recently. And I’m not happy about where we are at all.
I got a promotion once. Didn't get a raise with it though.
I have received 1 promotion in 20 years. It was always changing jobs that got me where I am.
