sometimes Twitter is funny, sometimes Twitter is sad, sometimes Twitter is a dozen friends and strangers yelling at you to get a pension in a way that feels both well-meaning and extremely judgemental

I also do not have a pension. I'm just planning to be rich by the time I'm old

I actually don't think a private pension is a sound investment if you don't have an employer paying into it. It's one thing if your employer is paying 50%, then it can drop by half and you still don't lose but honestly if I had an income, which I don't, I'd invest it elsewhere

Robyn saving into a pension means you would get a 25% government top up, which you would not get in any other investment elsewhere. I pay into a Sipp on top of my workplace pension

I know I'm being flippant at the moment but I have just started a business and money is really tight so the cost of paying into a pension is considerably more than just the monetary value, it's the loss of opportunity when I could be investing that money into the business

tbf that does actually make sense. I would just say I know loads of adults who really regret not paying into theirs sooner so I just urge everyone to do it no matter what

I think people should probably have some kind of plan. Every investment is a risk to some extent and pensions are definitely not risk-free, so it shouldn't be frowned upon to be doing something else, but the state pension will probably be non-existent by the time we're old

Yes I can understand it's difficult if you are starting a business and need the capital for that. But you can pay in just £25 a month, and the government will add 25% to that (plus the investment growth). If you pay into a Lisa, it's also tax free when you come to draw it.
