So many children find relief *for life* staying estranged from a parent, and the idea that all children must miss their estranged fathers is just not rooted in reality. Before my own dad got back in touch with me, I did not miss him and did not pine for that relationship

Sorry to pop off on one, but this language is wielded by abusive fathers to gain access to the children they put at risk. Parroting that is literally dangerous and, again, pushes an argument that doesn’t apply in most families struggling with this

Just remembered when the (court-mandated) counsellor said to me “every girl misses her daddy” and how, even at 16, I was like “how are you legally employed to do this”

I get thst this happens to ppl who are blameless which is awful but also.......her tweet is like the language bad dads use to justify all sorts of shit including abuse.....and its Bad.....
