I find the idea that a statue to someone can do anything other than portray them positively weird. It’s a big piece of metal in their shape. Even if you put a note next to it saying ‘this guy was a bit off’, it’s still a massive piece of public space dedicated to them

It was not teaching anyone anything where it was without being placed in a critical context. Now it has been acted upon, the statue has a narrative behind it that arguably helps in its ability to educate on Colston and his legacy. Fish it out and put it in the MShed.
