I feel similarly about the Trump lipsync woman, she just...lipsyncs what he says, there's nothing more to it, why does every video have like 80k retweets, did I miss a memo on why straight lipsyncs are funny now
I think for a lot of people it helps reveal what politicians are saying more than when they just do it ~in the wild~. The humour/ridiculousness comes through a lot more via a hammed up lipsync (Gen-Z’s version of a John Oliver riff). A lipsync can help crystallise it, essentially

yeah lol like, i don't particularly enjoy them. but i think that's what the audience is getting out of them (also i think political audiences on TikTok are underserved so the bar is **quite** low)

Also on TikTok the politician lip sync is a riff on the already-popular reality TV/classic vine/YouTube clip lip sync so it makes more sense, people are used to that as a concept
