That’s not what he’s saying at all? He’s noting that for millions of people, the NHS is now being cast in the light of a charity rather than a public service that has been serially underfunded. These initiatives are doing that for a lot of people, even if well-meaning/amazing
So surely his line should be "Important to note that these funds are not being raised for the NHS but for associated charities which offer staff and patients additional help; the NHS is funded from taxation"? Rather than "Terrible that people think this, I'll just reinforce it"?
I really don’t think that’s how this tweet reads, the implication being “we should be holding the government to account on this” not “people are terrible”
