So surely his line should be "Important to note that these funds are not being raised for the NHS but for associated charities which offer staff and patients additional help; the NHS is funded from taxation"? Rather than "Terrible that people think this, I'll just reinforce it"?

I really don’t think that’s how this tweet reads, the implication being “we should be holding the government to account on this” not “people are terrible”
