I’m firmly against removing e2e but it’s an interesting thought experiment. The issue with potential moderation of WhatsApp as opposed to Facebook and Twitter beyond e2e is that WhatsApp *feels* like a private medium, even when used as a public one.

Moderating Twitter feels like the digital equivalent of moderating a billboard: moderating WhatsApp Feels like reaching into people’s postboxes. There’s an implicit expectation of privacy beyond e2e, even though as you say, it’s used for public/social ends.
