Def agree with parts of this but covering what's going on on TikTok is a way the BBC are engaging with it and young people. If they joined and it wasn't authentically done it would fall completely flat as the 'official' voices are not what young people love about the platform.
I don’t think this is entirely true! I couldn’t include it because of word count, but I had a whole paragraph about how the Washington Post has an incredibly popular TikTok (350K+ followers) and goes viral CONSTANTLY. But I do get the concern/where you’re coming from

Def agree it can be done and should be but because of the size of the BBC it's not as simple as just starting one because of all the layers it'll have to go through. In the meantime lots of BBC journos are still listening and finding voices on the platform though
