Seriously though, the "evidence" that Lewis is a "Labour activist" in the piece are: a handful of tweets that you could definitely argue are just analysis, the fact that he wrote a book, and what he got up to as an undergrad. I'm...not sure that's a good route to go down?

I don't think it's helpful to fetishise complete and utter impartiality in current times, as no one really is entirely devoid of opinions, and social media makes it easier to show that; surely it's more productive to judge journalists on their reporting?

Because the logical conclusion of that paranoia on impartiality is that right wingers would only ever engage and listen to right wing journalists, and vice versa, and how do be build a healthy sphere from that?

And that's also valid re people saying Labour shouldn't engage with Laura K as "she's a Tory", or whatever. Don't think it's a good idea to get through every political journalist one by one, decide for them what their allegiances are then act in consequence. What's the endgame?

Legit it’s like - people have biases, why not talk about how the bbc manages them? Like, surely that’s the useful way to spend your time rather than sussing out what people fundamentally believe, right?
